Action Step: Reframe Fear
This is a 3 step process for reframing your fears and using the energy to awaken and create. First of course, identify the disguises as they arise and look beneath to recognize the fear at work.
1. During moments of fear, stop, be present and just feel the fear. Sometimes it’s difficult to identify what you’re feeling or experiencing as fear. It can be covered over by inaction, hesitation, resistance, anger, avoidance, etc. However, fear is usually the main player.
As fear arises, stop and zero in on where is it in your body? What does it feel like? Be present with the feeling. As you attend to the fear, you may notice it can change or move to other places in your body. Attending to the feeling, the intensity of fear will fade and stop dominating your awareness.
Attending to bodily sensations of fear allows you to become aware that fear is present. Instead of acknowledging that you’re feeling fear, say to yourself Fear is Present. As it fades, you can disconnect from fear enough to recognize that this isn’t the whole truth. The truth is that your fears are only one of thousands of many probabilities that could happen.
